You might have heard a little bit about this on the news, but North Little Rock is trying to help Central Arkansas Transit purchase new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses that are more fuel efficient and "cleaner". The city is also trying to use new federal stimulus money to convert other city buses to use CNG. This is very encouraging and is one very significant "green" step North Little Rock is making.

  1. That's great they are making an effort to make buses (which are the least efficient form of public transportation) more "green." Even though buses aren't the greatest option in public transport they still need to run in places like Little Rock that don't have quite the population density to support rail. Hopefully people will catch on that public transportation isn't for just the poor....the south seems to especially associate such negative connotations with public transport. If more people ride the buses and they are run on better fuel then Little Rock will be that much more green.

Great idea for a thesis and great blog too. Good luck with the rest of it!
